Actor Kyle MacLachlan will return to Twin Peaks for new miniseries
ACTOR KYLE MACLACHLAN will reprise his role as eccentric FBI agent Dale Cooper when cult ’90s show Twin Peaks returns to television next year.
Back in October, David Lynch and Mark Frost announced that Twin Peaks would return for a nine-episode miniseries on US cable network Showtime.
Lynch and Frost will write, direct and produce the series, which will begin filming this year for broadcast in 2016.
Very few details have been released – until now.
MacLachlan announced his return to the show yesterday by ‘interrupting’ a meeting of the Television Critics Association – The Guardian reports that during a speech by Showtime’s president, David Nevins, MacLachlan walked onstage and handed him a “damn good cup of coffee”.
Director David Lynch later tweeted the news himself, along with a photo of MacLachlan in Cooper’s traditional black suit and tie.
The original series centred on the murder of a popular teenager in a quiet American town, and the secrets unveiled in the aftermath of the killing.
When we last met Agent Cooper, he was in a rather precarious position – but it’s yet to be confirmed if the series will pick up where it left off in 1991.
